Narothum to spearhead KDAC

YATHIN Narothum has been elected as president of KwaDukuza Athletic Club (KDAC) at its annual general meeting held at the Stanger Manor Secondary School on Saturday.

Outgoing president of KDAC, Danny Sewmungal said: “The success of our club must be attributed to the team effort of every member of the club.”

He thanked Leon Moodliar, Narothum, Chander Gungadeen, Jairaj Ramnath, Gansen Moodley and Dippy Moodley who went beyond the call of duty to generate much-needed funds for the club.

He congratulated Bina Ramrup and Jairaj Ramnath who were adjudged walker and runner of the year respectively. He heaped praise upon Nishen Govender, Leon Moodliar, Indran Naidoo, Dippy Moodley and Vijesh Mahadeo who hoisted the KDAC flag high in the Bosveld-3-in-1 Marathon held in the Limpopo Province.

Sewmungal congratulated Ramnath and Philani Mkhize who have successfully completed the Comrades Marathon and urged athletes to start preparation early in January to tackle next year’s ultimate human race.

Other officials elected to serve on the KDAC cabinet were Ashnee Naidoo (vice-president), Rajen Padayachee (secretary), Shireen Sewmungal (treasurer), Shakaaar Gungaparsad (record clerk), Danny Sewmungal (public relations officer), Amarsen Moodley and Nikeyi Maarbeel (road captains), Dippy Moodley (membership secretary) and Praveen Shah (race organiser).
