A NEWLY acquired Shiva murthi (statue) will be installed at the Shree Hanuman Temple in Stanger Manor on Shivarathri night, this Friday.
The 1.5 metre tall murthi brought from India is the latest addition to the temple.
Shiva devotees are encouraged to attend and receive the blessing of Lord Shiva, “the destroyer of negative energies and evil forces”.
The trisul (trident) which is prominent on the new murthi represents the three gunas (qualities) namely Sattva guna - purity, knowledge and goodness, Raja guna, action and passion and Tamo guna ignorance and dullness.

Shivarathri is dedicated to Lord Shiva and devotees remain awake the whole night and offer bay leaf on the Lingum. Shivarathri will be celebrated at the Shree Hanuman Temple, 19 Rose Road, Stanger Manor on Friday, 24 February at 6pm.
Devotees are welcome to offer fruits and milk and participate in the hawan. Prasad and meals will be served.
