A LOCAL non-profit organisation - Exose Community Development - is running a campaign that helps future university students from poor backgrounds to get registration fees.

Bongiwe Mbuyisa, a member of this organisation, said the campaign is called Live Your Dream and was launched in August.

She said the organisation will depend on donations and sponsors from government departments, the municipality, business people and community leaders to help acquire funds.

The organisation is visiting schools in and around KwaDukuza to inform Grade 12 pupils about this initiative so that those who could make use of such
funds take advantage of such an opportunity.

Mthoko Msweli, also a member of the organisation, said pupils who wish to be assisted through this initiative would have to fill out an application form, which would include their recent results as this will be one of the criteria used to determine whether a pupil should be a beneficiary.

“It is very sad to realise that some young people cannot further their
studies because of a lack of funds, even when they qualify for university,” said another organisation member, Zama Masango.

Msweli added that such an initiative would also help to fill the gap in instances where students have been awarded a bursary or financial aid from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme, but still need to pay registration fees.

“As members of this organisation, we are asking from the bottom of our hearts that anyone who can assist with donations must do so,” Mbuyisa said.

Business people or members of the community who wish to assist this organisation must contact Mthoko Msweli on 083 780 1387 or email exosecommunityde
