SALT Rock I snatched a nail-biting 3-2 (5-2) win against Darnall in a Play Sport 365-sponsored Dolphin Coast Squash Summer League game played at the Salt Rock squash courts on Thursday.

It was a memorable night for both teams, with prodigal son Yashin Tewary (formerly of Stanger Dolphins) reminiscing the gold old days with the Salt Rock lads (who formerly plied their trade as Stanger Dolphins). While the result of the game was not important to both teams, the celebrations went late into the night with Tewary pouring out his heart and relishing every moment with his buddies.

Linda Griesel gave Darnall a shock 1-0 lead after edging out Sue Stapleton 2-1. Elvis Govender quickly snuffed out the visitors lead with an emphatic 3-0 win against Sheldon. Grant Griesel restored the visitors lead (2-1) after narrowly beating Prinolan Govender (2-1).

After a string of defeats in the Summer League, Shane Govindasamy bounced back to winning ways with a fluent 3-0 win against Tewary to level the scores at 2-2.

In the final game of the evening Avesh Nurbadh proved too strong for veteran squash campaigner, Grant Foulds romping to a convincing 3-0 win to guide Salt Rock to a hard fought 3-2 win and secure the 2-bonus points.

Meanwhile, Salt Rock V edged out Umhlali II (3-2) in a Summer League game played at Salt Rock on Thursday night.

Bev Livingston continued her rich vein of form after beating the more fancied Warren Viljoen (2-1) in the opening fixture of the evening.

Ferdi Vaspolis trounced Stephen Pricard 3-0 to keep the hosts in the race for honours. Musa Khumalo notched up back-to-back victories with a pulsating 3-0 win.

Michelle Heenen stunned Jono Hein winning 2-1 to level the scores at 2-2, heading into the final match of the evening.

Wesley Moodie recorded a thrill-a-minute sensational 2-1 win against Calvin Bonnar to secure victory (3-2) for Salt Rock V and the two bonus-points for the hosts.
