Three people were killed and 10 others injured on Sunday night when two VW Golf's travelling on the Doesberg road, KwaDukuza, were involved in a head on collision.

On arrival emergency services found people had been trapped in the vehicles and others had been thrown out some distance away from where the vehicles came to rest.

KwaDukuza Fire and Rescue Services used the jaws of life to gain access and removed the trapped victims.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue paramedics, three people, both drivers and one passenger were declared dead at the scene.

“One patient was in a critical condition and required advanced life support intervention.
“A further nine persons sustained moderate to minor injuries and were transported to various medical facilities,” said Paul Herbst.
The Doesberg road had to be closed for the wreckage and debris to be cleared.
