ATKV Applous streeksfees in U’hage gehou

Vir die eerste keer in 38-jaar sedert die begin van die ATKV Applous nasionale koorkompetisie word die finale vanjaar in die Oos-Kaap aangebied.

Volgens René Zietsman, streeksorganiseerder van die kompetisie vir Suid-Afrikaanse skoolkore, sal daar nagenoeg 2 300 koorlede van ongeveer 40 laer- en hoërskoolkore van regoor die land sowel as vanaf Namibië in die Baai se Veremarksentrum optree.

“Met ’n rekordgetal van 15 Oos-Kaap kore wat vanjaar ingeskryf het, sal een van die 17 streeksfeeste eerskomende Dinsdag (19 Mei) in twee sessies aangebied word by Hoërskool Strelitzia op Uitenhage,” het Zietsman gesê.

Die koorkompetisie is as ’n proeflopie deur die ATKV in 1977 aangebied en was so suksesvol dat dit nou al vir die 38ste opeenvolgende jaar gehou word. Organiseerders sê die aantal kore groei elke jaar en vanjaar is daar 185 inskrywings ontvang.

Zietsman het verduidelik dat die kompetisie uit twee rondtes bestaan. In die eerste rondte word 17 streekfeeste landwyd aangebied waar beoordelaars na kore uit verskillende streke luister.

“Daarna sal slegs kore wat goue sertifikate (80% en meer) ontvang het in aanmerking kom vir ‘n uitnodiging na die finaal,” het Zietsman gesê.

Deelnemende kore aan eerskomende Dinsdag, 19 Mei se streeksfees sluit die volgende skole in: Middagsessie (14:00) Kingswood College (Grahamstad), Despatch Primêre Skool se junior en senior kore, Laerskool Susannah Fourie, Walmer West Primary School, Victory Christian School van Jeffreysbaai en Laerskool Innes. In die aandsessie (18:30) tree die kore op van Muir College, Riebeek College, Woodridge College, Marymount RC Seconday School, Westering High School, Hoërskool Strelitzia, Hoërskool Brandwag en Hoërskool Despatch.

Die kaartjies vir beide sessies is R20 p/p en sal verkrygbaar wees by die deure. Die ATKV Applous koorkompetisie finaal word vanaf 5 tot 8 Augustus in Port Elizabeth by die Veremarksentrum aangebied.
