It’s no joke! In a first for the Eastern Cape, a popular local improvised comedy show is being filmed for television in Uitenhage.

The show, “Whose Line PE” is based on the American TV show called “Whose Line Is It Anyway”. Reports about the show in the press and on social media led producer Malcolm Ramsay of Pixellife Productions to approach the WhoseLinePE team to film the show for broadcast.

Creator of the local show, comedian Roland Gaspar, and his team are excited to provide this form of improvised comedy for a wider audience.

The show is a series of situations and games where the content is completely made up based on suggestions from the audience.

Ramsay and Gaspar then set about to find the best venue for live filming and settled on Barkly Street Theatre because of its atmosphere and camera friendly layout. Tossie van Loggerenberg, owner of the Barkly Street Theatre, said they are proud to be part of bringing local talent to television, “We have always been supporters of quality South African talent and we are happy to be the home of this new TV show for its first live recordings.”

Members of the public can be a part of the live audience for this historic TV shoot which happens next Wednesday, 4th November at 16:00 and 20:00. Tickets are available from the theatre on 041 922-0575 at R100 per person.
