The Uitenhage Lions Club will be hosting a steak evening at the Despatch Rugby Club in aid of the non-profit organisation called Friends of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Lion President André van Nie-kerk thanked the Despatch Rugby Club which no longer hires out the clubhouse for functions, but made a special exception to donate the use of their facilities free of charge, in that way showing support to MND sufferers.

All proceeds raised at the steak evening will be donated to the Friends of MND who provide the necessary services to improve the quality of life for both patients and family in the Uitenhage, Despatch and Port Elizabeth areas.

Mark Bradley, Chairman and Treasurer of the Friends of MND as well as Werner Landman, who is an MND sufferer, will both be in attendance.

In addition Sr Gaynor Bishop, Vice-chairperson of the Friends of MND, will give a talk explaining and answering questions on MND.

The steak evening will be held on Friday, May 29th at 18:30. Donations are R100 per person and include a steak, salads, bread roll and entry into the lucky draws. Music will be provided and a cash bar will be available.

)If you would like to join the Lions Club for an evening of eating, dancing and great fellowship contact Barend 084 571 4874 or Freddie 083 448 3120.

“Your support of this steak evening will enable both the Friends of MND and the Uitenhage Lions Club to assist MND sufferers with a variety of services they need to make their likes a world of difference,” said Van Nie-kerk
