Nico Oelofse from Property Explosion Real Estate in Despatch, has earned the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation, placing him among more than 2 000 elite real estate professionals worldwide.

The designation was awarded to him by the national association of Realtors® for completing rigorous coursework devoted to learning international real estate practices and demonstrating proficiency in international business.

According to Oelofse, the CIPS designation is synonymous with advanced expertise, a global perspective, and distinct understanding of a global buyer.

“As a CIPS designee, I can efficiently work with all international buyers, including United States of America’s residents looking to invest overseas, foreign buyers purchasing in the United States, as well as recent immigrants who might be unfamiliar with real estate transaction practices in the Republic of South Africa,” said Oelofse.

“To date, according to IEASA (Institute of Estate Agents of South Africa), there are fewer than 10 real estate professionals in South Africa, who hold the CIPS designation.”

Oelofse will be formally recognised at the organisation’s Realtors® Conference & Expo during November 2015.

Oelofse has been involved in real estate for the past 14 years, 8 years of which as principal.

As he is a qualified mechanical and architectural draughtsman with experience in the building industry, this valuable knowledge is a huge benefit when inspecting properties and identifying possible illegal construction to properties.

Oelofse attended the Certified International Property Specialist course at the offices of IEASA in Cape Town during September 2015.

“This gives me the opportunity to align myself with the best in international real estate. International real estate opportunities are everywhere.

With the increase in globalisation South Africans are relocating overseas. Foreigners are moving to South Africa and many reports indicate that ex-pats are returning home.

“If you have the knowledge and networking opportunities CIPS affords you, you could be part of any of the above relocation deals. Sometimes global opportunity lies where people least expect it - in small, metro and

rural regions.”

The CIPS Designation provides real estate agents with the knowledge, research and tools to globalise their business.

This programme and course focuses on how to study and focus on the critical aspects of international real estate transactions.

The programme trainer, Tony Macaluso, is the owner of Portside Properties, located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in the United States of America.

The course consisted of five main categories, into which the globe is subdivided, such as:

Global Real Estate - Local Markets; The Business of U.S. Real Estate; Europe and International Real Estate; Asia/Pacific and International Real Estate; The Americas and International Real Estate.

“This course offers practical information on working with international investors as well as the historical and cultural influences, regional relationships and investment opportunities,” said Oelofse.
