Rock The Hage music show at Muir

2015-10-29 13:51

Uitenhage will be rocked during the first weekend in November when various local rock bands and musicians take to the stage at Muir College in aid of the school and the Uitenhage SPCA.

The popular Rock The Hage show this year features bands like Dark Custard, Poltergeist, Day Trippers, Hazard Buccaneers, Harry’s Roadhouse, Satelites, Pink Lippz and Jimmy Lemley.

According to the organiser of the event, John van Vuuren, there will be special performances by young rockers from Muir College and Riebeek College Girls’ High School.

“These bands were established, thanks to funds donated by Kim Clement and Rock The Hage, with the aim to buy music equipment for the schools. So, they will be strutting their talents on stage this year,” said John van Vuuren.

In a special performance for the younger generation, the rock band Pink Lippz, comprising musicians from Despatch and Uitenhage, will let their talent be heard on Friday, November 6th. These guys have performed in various opening acts for some of South Africa’s top rock bands.

Former Uitenhage resident Takkies Werth, nowadays living in Bloemfontein, will come all the way to handle the sound of Rock The Hage.

“Special thanks to Johan Williams and Cameron Jones who will be flying in from the UK and Bill Bakker flying all the way from Australia,” said Van Vuuren.

Sponsors so far for this year’s show include Keith Clark, the Lemley Family and Sandra Hurter.

The Rock The Hage show will be held on November 6th (17:00) & 7th (16:00) with admission being R60 on the Friday and R70 for the Saturday. Tickets are available from Fusion Cyber Café, 9 Lances Lane, Uitenhage or 041 922 5778.
