The Uitenhage Lions Club appeals to local business and the general public to please support the Uitenhage SPCA in the sponsoring of kennels.

Lions are totally committed to animal welfare in the community and have for the past 10 years been part of the sponsoring kennels initiative.

The Uitenhage SPCA is a non-government funded welfare organisation responsible for their own funding to meet their mandate in taking care of many unwanted, unclaimed stray and injured animals in not only Nelson Mandela Bay, but also beyond its borders.

They do this by means of public donations and various fundraising events such as the Tekkie Tax Campaign, SPCA bikers day and Rock the Hague. Among the fund-raisers is that of “kennel sponsors”.

The SPCA presently has 87 kennels that are home to both cats and dogs. The monthly cost to run a kennel is R150 and this equates to R1 800 per kennel per annum.

All funds generated by the “kennel sponsorship” are used for the direct care of the animal housed in the kennel such as feeding, medical care (when required), parasite control and inoculation.

The Uitenhage SPCA will make a sponsor plaque which will be affixed to the fencing of the chosen kennel. Sponsors also have the option either to supply their own plaque, or it can be designed by them as per the sponsorship form.

This is an ideal opportunity for a company, local business, family or individuals to reflect their support for those who cannot speak for themselves.

  • There are sponsorship forms available at the SPCA office in Schonland Street, Kruisriver Industrial Area. Forms should be completed and returned or submitted via email to info@uitenhagespca.co.za

Sponsorship payments should be paid into the Uitenhage SPCA bank account: Uitenhage and District SPCA;

Bank: Nedbank; Account No. 1277004544; Branch Code: 127716; reference: your name/company followed by KS.
