Uitenhage Lions Club ladies hosted a successful evening with the well-known motivational speaker Gretha Wiid.

“The success of the show is mainly as the result of the support of both local business and the community of which approximately 300 people attended,” said Uitenhage Lions Club President, Hein de Vrey.

De Vrey congratulated the Lions’ ladies on their organisational skills and attention to details.

“The marketing of tickets by Lions ladies Madelaine, Wendy and the rest of the team of assistants contributed to the event raising much needed funds for those in need within the Uitenhage and Despatch communities.”

In keeping with the Lion motto of “We Serve” all funds raised were donated to children with specific medical conditions in these communities.

This included a young child named Zandrea, who was diagnosed with a bilateral, asymmetric hearing loss requiring the need of a more up to date technology.

The other child, Brendon, aged 10, has been diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma cancer and is presently undergoing medical treatment.

“On behalf of the Uitenhage Lions Club we wish both children and their families all the best for the future and encourage the community to assist them in their time of need,” said Lion President Hein.
