The Lions Club of Uitenhage is not only known in the local community for their service above self, but also in Cradock for their social investment in the town thanks to the annual Lion Rally.

“The Lion Rally is recognized as the biggest and best family rally in the Eastern Cape. Come and help us celebrate our coming of age, meet old friends as well as making new friends,” said Lion Bokkie Oberholzer, convener of the Lion Rally.

All proceeds from the Lion Rally will be used for the needy including hospitals, retirement homes, schools, crèches, feeding schemes, homeless and the poverty stricken in the communities of Cradock, Uitenhage, Despatch and surrounding areas.

The Lion Rally this year sees its 23rd running which will be held at the Cradock Spa on the outskirts of the Karoo town from 2 to 4 December.

Entry to the Lion Rally amounts to R190 per person and it includes the customary Lion Rally mug, cloth and metal badges.

Entertainment includes games, concourse, drags, wheelies, donut, beer drinking competitions, Miss Lion Rally on Friday night and lucky draws.

A mass ride on Saturday morning will be followed by drags, wheelies, fun and games and the draw of the main prize valued at R20 000.

The main prize include five days accommodation for two at the Beacon Island Leisure Resort in Plettenberg Bay, meal vouchers worth R1 500 plus R8 000 cash.

There will be dancing and a live band on both nights with food and novelty stalls aplenty.

How much food do you need to concentrate?

We have been taught that we need three meals a day in order to make it through the day and while most of us indulge in more than our fair share there is a large portion of South Africans who are living off barely enough to sustain them.
