What started out as a once off Christmas in July party for the kids of Mickey Mouse Crèche, has developed into an astonishing relationship where the Fairview Race Course has “adopted” the crèche.

“We have been involved at Mickey Mouse for the past three years. It was thanks to socialite Theo Klaas, who introduced us and he actually is on the board of the crèche,” said Karen le Roux from Pumelela Gaming & Leisure.

Recently the children were treated with eats and treats in celebration of the Spring season. Fairview Race Course once again donated the refreshments. Ria Swanepoel spoiled the children with her delicious cup cakes.

Lagenay Theron, principal at Mickey Mouse Crèche said, “They are overwhelmed by the support and social investment in the future of the school and its learners. We also would like to thank Ria for her kindness and lovely cup cakes.”

The relationship was further strengthened with the involvement of Dorrie and Mark Sham and friends, who really have taken the crèche to heart and now basically fund-raised on their own in support of Mickey Mouse.

“They are absolutely amazing and have raised funds in excess of R80 000 over a period of three years. Ever since the Shams have been involved, they have paid for the painting, installing of new toilets and other maintenance projects,” said Le Roux.

The Fairview Race Course also supports the crèche on a monthly basis with food. Mickey Mouse Crèche is situated in Gerald Smith, Uitenhage.

  • Registration for the 2017 intake will be held on October 10th. Prior to this day a family day (fun walk, braai & stalls) will be held on October 1st with the Mickey Mouse debutante ball at the Allanridge Civic Centre on November 18th.
