Monique Haven Victim Support Centre, ’n nie-winsgewende organisasie wat sedert 2002 hulp verleen aan kinders wat slagoffers is van geweld en verkragting, hou eerskom-ende Saterdag ’n fondsinsameling.

“Monique is die naam van die dogtertjie wat hier in ons gemeenskap uit haar warm bedjie in haar ouerhuis gehaal is en deur ’n misdadiger verkrag en vermoor is,” sê Danny Jacobs voorsitter van die ondersteuningsgroep.

Die groep is werksaam in Khayamnandi, Reservoir Hills, Daleview, Despatch, Joe Slovo, Nkandla, Marakana en die hele Wyk 41 en 52. Hulle help op verskeie maniere met bv. kospakkies en klere.

“Ons werk hand-aan-hand met die verskillende departemente en ook die polisie en gemeenskapspolisiëring en doen verwysings van slagoffers,” sê Jacobs.

Hy sê alhoewel die groep ondersteun word deur die departement van welsyn, is dit vir hulle nodig om self ook fondse in te samel. Daarom word ’n spogtee Saterdag gehou.
