Tydens die SAICE-brugboukompetisie het die HTS Daniel Pienaar se Tiere weereens hul Siviele Tegnologie kennis en vernuf ten toon gestel en dié skool se A-span – Monique Kilian, André Goosen en Steyn Koekemoer – het die kompetisie gewen met ’n brug wat 98 kg kon dra.

Die B-span – Kirsty Lee Schaup, Kelly Engelbrect en Ricardo Hoffman – was derde met ’n brug wat 65 kg kon dra.

Die kompetisie het vasgestelde reëls, vereistes en spesifikasies wat betref die spanopening van die brug en die boumateriaal, wat met elke kompetisie verander. Die brûe word onder ’n trekkrag getoets tot dit breek. Die verhouding tussen die brug se gewig en die krag wat dit dra, bepaal die punte wat die brug behaal.

In die 13 provinsiale kompetisies waaraan HTS Daniel Pienaar deelgeneem het, het die skool 11 keer die eerste plek behaal en in die 18 nasionale kompetisies waaraan HTS Daniel Pienaar deelgeneem het, het die skool 16 keer posisies onder die eerste tien plekke behaal – drie eerste plekke en drie derde plekke.
