The Gamble Pharmacy relay teams started where they left off by winning the first round of the unique 2017 Town Lodge Business Night Relay held at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

New stadium manager, Mpho Mokon-yama, got races underway and was full of praise for this unique event which is hosted by the stadium on the last Tuesday evening of the month and continues till the end of August.

“It was fantastic to witness local businesses supporting this initiative and we, as the stadium, are proud to be the host venue of the Business Night Relay and are looking forward to staging many of these in future,” said Mokonyama.

The Gamble Pharmacy 5 man relay team won Round 1 in a fast 58 minutes 34 seconds with two of the SPAR DC teams chasing hard. SPAR’s Running Blitz and Running Storm teams finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the men’s category whilst Gamble Pharmacy also won the mixed relay category from PKF 1 and Rooftop Productions Team Kickin.

In the women’s category it was the Woodridge Prep Ladies that proved too fast on the evening, winning in a time of 1 hour 23 minutes from Investec’s Blister Sister’s and the NOV Ladies.

In the walking category, the 3-person team from Keiskamma Cycle Tours won in a time of 1hr 15min ahead of HRG Rennies Travel and the Town Lodge Moonwalkers.
