The Uitenhage Magistrates office hosted a Hats & Heels event, inviting all its female employees to attend and dress accordingly. The event was directed by Nandi Cekiso and with the theme “Women investing in Women” exhibitors representing the financial, as well as health and beauty sectors were present.

The key note speaker, Gertrude Komani, an Inspector of Court Interpreters in the Eastern Cape, encouraged women to equip and motivate themselves to add value to fellow female employees whether at the office or in the social environment.

“Remember 1956. Those women got on busses to bring change. They opened doors for us, and because of what they did, we have to continue the struggle to invest in womanhood,” said Komani.

“We too, on a daily basis, get in the bus, your car, taxi or train to bring along change. Each of us has their own struggle, but we have to continue to do good to others. We are from different backgrounds, but what we have in common is the power to give love and strength to change things for the better.”
