1 dead, 5 injured in Potch accident

2012-05-24 17:08
Johannesburg - One man was killed and five other people injured in a four-vehicle accident on the N12 at the Fochville turn-off, close to Potchefstroom on Thursday, paramedics said.

ER 24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said a multi-purpose vehicle was coming out of a side street when a sedan collided with it. The impact made the multi-purpose vehicle roll, causing extensive damage to it.

"After the initial impact a car and a bakkie crashed into the vehicles. Paramedics arrived to find vehicle parts strewn across the highway," said Jackson.

"A man was found lying in the road... He succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased. There were another five patients who had been severely injured."

Jackson said the injured people were transported to Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg and to the Mediclinic in Potchefstroom for further treatment.
