Bloemfontein – Free State police are investigating a case of murder, robbery and assault after a group of people allegedly killed a man, and stabbed another on Sunday morning.

Five men were attacked by a group of people at a four-way crossing while driving back from a traditional ceremony, said Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane on Wednesday.

Mokhuoane said about 50 people had surrounded the car, before assaulting and robbing them.

One of the passengers managed to call the police for help, she said.

On arrival at the scene, police found the body of 25-year-old man lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.  He was declared dead on the scene.

Another man was rushed to hospital with severe stab wounds. The group fled the scene.

No arrests have yet been made.
