Johannesburg - A man died and four other people were injured when three cars collided at the intersection of Argyle and Stanger streets in Durban on Monday morning, paramedics said.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said one car with five passengers took a majority of the impact.
"After medics triaged the injured they found that a rear passenger tragically died on scene due to the extensive injury that he sustained," he said.
The four occupants from the same vehicle had sustained serious injuries and after they were stabilised, medics transported them to hospital for the care that they required.
Botha said the passengers in the other two cars were not injured.
Investigations into the cause of the accident would be investigated.
