Johannesburg – One person was killed after a two-vehicle collision on Cedar Road near the R114, north of Johannesburg on Tuesday, paramedic services said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics, along with Life Healthcare, found both vehicles in the middle of the road on arrival.

Both vehicles had been badly damaged in the collision, Meiring said.

"On inspection, paramedics found the body of a man lying inside his vehicle. Unfortunately, the man showed no signs of life. Nothing more could be done for the man and he was declared dead."

Meiring said two other patients were found in the second vehicle.

"Fortunately, both had escaped without sustaining any injuries."

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
