13 down with food poisoning

Umtata - Thirteen people were admitted to the Umtata General hospital with suspected food poisoning on Saturday, the Eastern Cape health department said on Sunday.

Spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo said the group, some of them family members, ate goat and cow meat at the Baziya village outside Umtata on Saturday.

They were admitted after showing signs of food poisoning, including vomiting and diarrhoea.

Kupelo said 10 of the group had since being discharged. The remainig three were in a stable condition.

The meat will be tested.
