Polokwane - Thirteen people, among them teenagers, have been arrested in connection with a attack on an elderly Limpopo man whom they accused of witchcraft, say police.
Inspector Ntobeng Phala said police had initially arrested 30 people, including women, after a group attacked Matome Molele (67) and burnt down his five mud houses worth R50 000 on Bokna farm about 01:30am on Monday.
After questioning the group, police charged 13 men with arson, and released the other 17 people.
Phala said that although Molele managed to flee unhurt, a further R9 000 cash kept in a kist went up in smoke while the attackers were torching the property.
The 13 are expected to appear in court soon.
