Johannesburg - Fourteen people were injured, one seriously, in a crash between a taxi and a truck on the N3 near Key Ridge in Durban on Tuesday, ER24 said.

Spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said there were 14 people in the taxi at the time and both vehicles were travelling in the same direction when they collided.

"Paramedics arrived on scene to find that the vehicles ended up facing one another and two lanes were obstructed by the wrecks," she said.

One woman was severely injured and had multiple broken bones. She was airlifted to Edendale Hospital for further care.

The remaining patients had minor to moderate injuries and were treated either on the scene or transported to hospitals in the vicinity by ambulance. Traffic was backed up to the Hammarsdale exit as a result of the accident.
