14 hurt in construction site collapse

Johannesburg - Fourteen construction workers were injured, four critically, when a construction site collapsed in Airport Park in Germiston on Tuesday, said paramedics.

"The four people who are critical suffered head and spinal trauma and multiple fractures," said Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks.

The incident happened around 08:45.

Paramedics treated and stabilised the workers on the scene before taking all 14 to hospital.

    The specifics are amazing - "when a construction site collapsed". Sure we can imagine, but this is supposed to be accurate reporting people. At least that use to be what news was about. They could have at least estimated... 10 bricks, 100bricks, 5 props, 5 cubes concrete...

    Why not say something like " Construction workers injured because of scaffolding that collapsed " or something like " construction workers injured due to structural support that collapsed" if you do not know find out. Be specific because where is the incident and accident investigation should have asked the safety officers or safety reps what when wrong.

    So what is new, past,present and future, employ unqualified or uneducated persons this will continue to happen. It will carry on untill matric pass results are done propely and not just to have a good pass rate for a school
