156 suspects busted by cops

Johannesburg - A total of 156 suspects wanted in connection with various crimes were arrested on Tuesday in the East Rand police's festive season crime prevention strategy.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Andy Pieke said most of the suspects were wanted for crimes committed in November and December.

Pieke said police also recovered suspected stolen goods and a vehicle stolen in Meyerton earlier this month.

The suspects were arrested for crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, assault, housebreaking, fraud and arson.

They are to appear in different courts in the East Rand soon, Pieke said.
