Johannesburg - A 15-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly raping his niece in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga police said.

Superintendent Abie Khoabane said the boy was arrested on Friday after his sister, the girl's mother, reported the alleged rape to police.

"It allegedly happened on Tuesday but we don't have full details yet... we are investigating," said Khoabane.

He could not immediately reveal the girl's age.

The boy was expected to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court on Monday, he said.
