17 hurt in Durban taxi crash

Durban - Seventeen people were injured in a taxi accident in Durban on New Year's day, paramedics said on Friday.

Three people were critically injured while fourteen sustained serious to minor injuries on the N3, near Tollgate bridge.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the patients were transported to various hospitals after being stabilised at the scene.

The cause of the accident is unknown.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was slightly injured when he lost control of his car in Newlands, Durban.

He crashed into a traffic light on Queen Nandi Drive, Crisis Medical paramedics said.
