North West – Two people have been arrested for the Christmas Eve murder of Boekie Meyer in his Klerksdorp home during an apparent home invasion.

The 72-year-old man, who lived alone, was killed after apparently returning home and being overpowered by intruders.

Police on Saturday said Meyer had allegedly been tied up and stabbed in the upper body.

Items were stolen from his house and his safes had also been raided.

The two suspects, aged 23 and 25, were arrested after they pointed out where to find Meyer’s golf shirt during questioning, spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said.

They were also in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash at the time of their arrest.

The two accused are expected in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of murder and housebreaking.
