2 arrested for gang-raping schoolgirl

Johannesburg - Two boys suspected of drugging and raping a Johannesburg schoolgirl have been arrested, the Gauteng education department said on Monday.

"The police have arrested two suspects this morning... that information came through five minutes before this press conference," Gauteng education MEC Barbara Creecy said.

"We have the matter under control. We are engaging the services of an external independent investigator to produce a report on what disciplinary action needs to be taken, if any against learners, educators, and school management."

Three boys allegedly gave "date rape" drugs to two girls on Thursday and then gang-raped one of them, aged 15, while filming it on their cellphones. The attack occurred at a Johannesburg high school during school hours.
