another accident yet again? is it something in the air perhaps, we need a whole lot of prayers, this is really getting a bit too much

      Oom Filimon - 2011-09-23 12:02

Prayers??!!.....what's that gonna help?..........someone needs to knock some sense into some drivers......prayer not going to change much........

      Elle_black - 2011-09-23 12:09

@ Oom filimon, prayers will change everything actually,it always does

      Kenno - 2011-09-23 12:25

Actually law enforcement would be good....No bribes accepted by our magnificent law officers!!!

      Nicholas Krul - 2011-09-23 12:30

Let's pray that the Metro cops grow some cojones and start doing their jobs by getting unroadworthy vehicles off our roads and by arresting reckless drivers rather than hiding behind bushes like cowards with a radar gun.

      HeregoesthePlanet - 2011-09-23 13:39

@ Kenno if the Police Officers were actually paid properly maybe theyd do their jobs properly, id say No Increases for ministers for 2years and use that money for the cops salaries, and not the sups because they already earn R400+ a year.

  • Scorpius - 2011-09-23 11:45

Single road, blind corner, and impatient drivers :( Very bad combination, especially when it is still dark. Was there this morning, drove past the scene

  • Currie_Mafia - 2011-09-23 11:55

    What ?!!!...No taxi involved.

      Flee - 2011-09-23 14:57

Car most prob swerved out the way of a taxi....

  • Ross - 2011-09-23 12:12

The truck drivers are driven to the limit because the profit margins are small not unlike the taxis. Truck drivers should have mandatory resting periods or there must be two drivers per truck. Presently some truck drivers do up to 20 000 kms per 22 day month.

      allows - 2011-09-23 12:24

Who is going to monitor this Ross? The cops are lazy, uninterested, and have a "couldn't care less" attitude.

      McDaNife - 2011-09-23 13:14

If this happened in the morning surely they have had their rest, its just negligence by one of the drivers.

  • wredman2 - 2011-09-23 12:13

Lets not worry about dropping the speed limit, we should focus on teaching people to drive on the correct side of the road!

  • allows - 2011-09-23 12:22

What is going on? How do you hit another vehicle head on? What are they busy doing that they cannot see they are on the wrong side of the road? This is becoming a daily thing now. Eish man.

  • Ang - 2011-09-23 12:36

You could turn the tide on this carnage by changing the Metro Police from Revenue Collectors to Law Enforcers - ANd immediately remove all officers where a bribe has been solicited!!

  • Frans - 2011-09-23 13:02

    Another mystery story.

  • khethani.sibanda - 2011-09-23 13:06

Improved road infrastructure, increased driver road safety awareness, mandatory defensive driving for all taxi, bus and truck drivers, an overhaul of policing structures - this could lend a helping hand in reducing the carnage in our roads. God help and protect us all as we travel.

      Lee - 2011-09-29 15:12

Khethani.sibanda - I'm 100% behind you on this issue. Iverhauling of Policing structures is an excellent idea, just a pity that Metro Police officers especially Ekurhuleni never got budget for overtime, etc. Trust me they want to work but to Council it's more important for the big shots to fly all over with the tax payers money, and the Metro Cops that do nothing at all the whole day gets away with murder doing as little as possible. I speak of experience, and you can't do a damn thing about them if they loaf around because I'm white and have no say!!

Knock sense into the utterly useless corrupt traffic authorities. That will help. They only prosecute the people who can drive and can afford to pay their expensive lifestyle.

  • EyeAmMyOwn - 2011-09-23 13:47

it is so terribly sad that people are STILL resorting mysticism and prayer for help, leaving themselves essentially helpless and wholly dependant on the faith that whatever we HOPE for will come true. Hope and faith is for the resigned. you people do nothing when DOING is really the answer to everything. need a solution - create it. Do not hope some divinity will do it for you. Otherwise .. what would be the point of you being able to do ANYTHING at all? when will you let go of of the idea of god for reality? why should he not be forgotten any more than Apollo? Zeus? ... you people are as unnecessary as the gods you worship - rather don't offer opinion if has no practical use at ALL

  • sam malindi - 2011-09-23 14:12

Speed limit wont help because our people donot respect traffic rules, visibility of police and strict control will only help.

  • Dolphin - 2011-09-29 13:00

Oom Filimon - Indeed. If people start using their brains more, it would make a great difference on our roads and in this country. Condolences to the family.
