Its funny thought, in CT people get into trouble when they use their mobile device, but nobody gives a damn when people get into an unroadworthy vehicle and a driver that breaks most traffic laws, yet the drivers get away..

I am in the taxi industry, the truth is the whole system is corrupt. You can get a roadworthy certificate for a vehicle over the phone. Price R750.00, Operating permit R450.00, get through a roadblock R20.00. I think the authorities should hit the owners where it matters, it the taxi is caught breaking the law impound it for a day. The owner will lose about R600.00, do this untill they get the message.

I agree totally and it sounds great in theory, but then you get the Durban taxi's who strike and wreak havoc because they feel that the Metro Police are targeting them unfairly!

Last week I hooted at a taxi on corner of Liesbeeck and Durban rd CT for going trough red light, the taxi then blocks my way a bit further down the rd to verbally abuse me and threaten me...yet on the M5/N2 offramp cops are hiding in van filming commuters in peak hour grid slowly crossing a white line (many are forced too cos its slow an busy)...maybe its time to film these taxi's and send footage to authorities and demand action be taken.
