N3 truck accident

A man was killed and another was in a critical condition after a truck carrying chemicals hit a stationary container truck on the N3 southbound near Pinetown.

Johannesburg - Two people died and eight others were injured in an accident on Pomona Road in Kempton Park on Friday, paramedics said.

The man and woman who died were driving a small bakkie which crashed into an overturned truck, ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.

They were then rear-ended by another small bakkie.

"The driver of the truck said a mini-bus taxi turned in front of him causing him to lose control and overturn," said Banks.

The minibus taxi crashed into a fence injuring five passengers.

A man and woman in the bakkie that rear-ended the first bakkie were treated for neck and spine injuries.

The truck driver was treated for minor injuries, Banks said.
