Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Kuruman businessman, Northern Cape police said on Thursday.

Lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana said the men allegedly broke into John and Maria Fraser's house in July.

"John was shot in the chest and his wife, Maria, survived after she was shot in the shoulder," he said.

The men allegedly stole an undisclosed amount of money, cellphones, and a shotgun after forcing the woman to open the safe.

"A 24-year old man was arrested on Tuesday. His vehicle has been confiscated because it is linked to the commission of crime," Tawana said.

A second man was arrested on Thursday and his car was also confiscated.

Police believed he might be linked to another murder case in Mmabatho, Tawana said.

Both men would face charges of murder, attempted murder, and robbery when they appeared in the Kuruman Magistrate's Court soon.
