2 held for drug dealing

Johannesburg - Two men were arrested in Durban on Monday for dealing in drugs, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Police were trailing a man through the city's central business district when they saw a white Volkswagen Polo parked at the side, said police spokesperson Jay Naicker.

They recognised a drug dealer sitting in the Polo, searched the vehicle and found a few ecstasy tablets.

"The policemen then proceeded to John Ross House, where the suspects reside," said Naicker.

Police searched the premises and found 10 packets of ecstasy tablets and two packets of the drug methcathinone, which is also called cat, with a street value of about R600 000.

"The suspects were charged with dealing in narcotics and will appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Tuesday," said Naicker.

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said the arrests showed police had not loosened their grip on drug dealers.
