Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested in connection with a 2008 murder
in Northcliff, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.
"They are in court tomorrow [Thursday], they have been linked to the
crime," said Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.
The Star newspaper reported that Gary Smith and his sister Karen Buchanan
were bound with rags and their mouths were duct-taped shut before they were
assaulted on 14 March 2008.
Their teeth were pulled out, darts were thrown at them and Buchanan was
stripped naked. Later, they were both shot in the head.
Buchanan was killed by a shot to the back of the head. Her brother was shot
in the mouth. Their bodies were found by a domestic worker.
Dlamini said he could not disclose the names of the two men arrested before
they had appeared in court because of the sensitivity of the investigation.
The men, who were arrested two weeks ago, would appear in the Johannesburg
Magistrate's Court on Thursday on murder charges.
