2 in court over Modimolle attack

2012-01-16 14:04

Modimolle - The case involving two men accused of participating in the rape and torture of a woman in Modimolle was postponed on Monday morning, Limpopo police said.

Mmapuru Peter Mohlako, 34, and Andries Paparona Sithole, 42, appeared in the Modimolle Magistrate's Court, where the case was postponed until February 10, said Lieutenant Colonel Ronel Otto.

They will appear on this date with their co-accused Sello Frans Mphaka, 38, and Johan Kotzé, 50.

All four men remain in custody.

Kotzé allegedly forced the three men at gunpoint to rape and mutilate his estranged wife Ina Bonnette at their home on January 4. He also allegedly shot dead her 19-year-old son Conrad.

Bonnette earlier waived her right as a rape victim to remain unnamed so that Kotzé's name and image could be circulated in the media.

A member of the public spotted Kotzé in Modimolle, leading to his arrest last Wednesday.

The other three men were all arrested in Makapanstad, Hammanskraal.

Mphaka was taken into custody on Wednesday, while Mohlako and Sithole were arrested on Friday and Saturday.

Kotzé and Mphaka appeared in court for the first time on Friday, the same day as Bonnette's son's funeral.

I thought the three "suspects" weren't forced to commit the attack, now it is "alleged" that he did force them at gunpoint?! WTF?

on a previous news feed it was said he bribed them with work, now ppl say they must be fair on them for they were forced. my question is everyone has a choice to do right or wrong if they could do that for a job then they can kill as well

Yes but you dont have much of a choice when someone is pointing a gun at you. And if it was for a job, how could Kotze look the same guys who raped his wife in the eyes and shake their hands welcoming them to their new jobs, thinking his wife would shut up about the incident for the rest of her life. I think he did force those guys at gunpoint.

      Martin - 2012-01-16 16:27

Warren, try getting hard enough to rape someone with a gun pointed at your head. If you can get a boner in that situation, you have problems.

      Warren Ripthemic Incredibly - 2012-01-16 17:39

Well i guess if that problem does occur, then you should consider yourself a dead man.

they should get the same treatment as kotze

The ANC Women's League were on the news defending these men instead of the WOMAN who was raped. Disgusting.

i completely agree with you martin

THEY WERE NOT FORCED AT GUNPOINT!!!!! They waited inside while Kotze was outside sitting chatting with her. He then lured her inside and gave them a signal - the men were waiting... They could have run away and called for help at any time.
