2 injured in Daveyton robbery

Johannesburg - Two people have been wounded in a house robbery in Daveyton, Gauteng paramedics said on Wednesday.

"ER24 and the Ekurhuleni [emergency] services treated an 18-year-old woman and a man for gunshot wounds," said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

"The woman suffered wounds to her leg, which [was] broken... and the man had suffered a wound to his chest."

They were taken to nearby hospitals.

Police spokesperson Nomsa Sekele confirmed that there was a shooting during a house robbery, but said no woman was injured.

"It was two men that were shot, not a woman, and they are in a stable condition in hospital."

She said two people entered a house in Eiselen Street and tried to steal the TV at 20:45 on Tuesday.

"One of the injured men lived in the back house. It was this house that the intruders broke into.

"People living in the main house heard the gunshots and came out and the intruders fled without the TV," said Sekele.

The house belonged to a relative of one of the wounded men.
