Johannesburg - Two men were seriously injured when their light aircraft crashed at the Panorama airfield in Alberton, east of Johannesburg, on Saturday morning, paramedics said.

"They had been aboard a micro light which purportedly crashed on takeoff," Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said.

"The wreckage had come to rest near the airfield and one man was trapped inside."

The men would be treated on the scene and taken to the Netcare Union Hospital.
