Warden - Two men were killed and seven people were injured when a truck crashed into the back of their bakkie near Warden in the Free State on Tuesday morning, paramedics said.

Paramedics found the bodies under the wreckage of the truck on the N3, Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said.

"The injured, two of them critically, were scattered near the initial point of impact," he said.

They were treated on the scene and were taken to Harrismith Hospital.

The occupants of the truck were not injured.

Wicks said the cause of the accident was not immediately clear. Both vehicles had been travelling on the same side of the highway.

Truck drivers are worse than taxi drivers. They take advantage of the fact that they seldom get hurt in collisions with light motor vehicles. It is time that authorities revoke truck drivers' licences, for speeding and other dangerous moving violations. I certainly hope that governments promise to upgrade the railway is not just idle talk.
