2 killed in Diepkloof shoot-out

Johannesburg - Two supermarket robbers were killed on Wednesday in a shoot-out with the police in Diepkloof, Johannesburg, police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Tshisikhawe Ndou said three men stole a cash box from a supermarket in Rosettenville in the morning.

They grabbed a security guard's firearm as they were leaving.

Police were alerted, and the robbers were cornered in Diepkloof, about 10km away.

The robbers started shooting at the police and two were killed when the police returned fire.

A third man ran away. Police recovered three unlicensed firearms and the stolen cash box.
