2 more held for Tongaat murders
Johannesburg - Two more men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Tongaat couple, bringing the total number to five, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday.
Following investigations, the fourth man was arrested on Monday and would appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, spokespersonl Jay Naicker said.
"The fifth man was already in police custody for unlawful possession of a firearm and he will appear in court on Friday."
They allegedly shot dead businessman Balaram Reddy, 56, and his wife Maliga, 52, in their Burbreeze, Tongaat home on December 22. Their son Nivashin, 27, was shot in the back and stabbed several times. He survived the attack.
The first three men caught, Senzo Sello Nduli, 26, Lucky Ernest Njoko, 23, and Sibusiso Mthimkhulu, 28, appeared in court last week. The case against them was postponed to January 13.
They face charges of murder, attempted murder and house robbery.
