2 sleeping hijackers nabbed

Johannesburg - Two men were arrested on Thursday after being found in possession of a hijacked minibus in Soweto, police said.

Inspector Kay Makhubela said the men aged 22 and 36 were found sleeping inside a Mazda that was parked outside a house in the Bramfischer area in Soweto.

The car is believed to have been used in a hijacking in Meadowlands.

Police arrested the men and also found two firearms in the car.

They were led to the men by a tracker in the hijacked minibus.

Two other men, who were inside the house managed to get away.

The arrested men were charged with possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of a suspected stolen car.

They will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court soon.
