Mooi River - New Year's Eve brought special joy to a North West couple whose 14-month-old daughter, missing for 72 hours, was found unharmed on Tuesday afternoon.
Superintendent Louis Jacobs says little Silvia Kok went missing on Rietfontein farm in the Buffelshoek area, near Mooi River on December 28. She was found wandering in the veld at about
17:00 on New Year's Eve.
The people who found her immediately contacted the police, who had been conducting an intensive search for her since she disappeared while playing with an older sister.
Jacobs said several police units - including the dog and mounted units and a helicopter - had been involved in the search. Members of the public also helped.
The toddler had wandered about 4.5km from where she'd
been playing.
She was slightly dehydrated and had a few scratches and thorns in her feet, but was otherwise unharmed.
Silvia was treated for dehydration and kept in
hospoital for observation.
