Johannesburg - Twenty-two children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old have been injured after their minibus collided with a bakkie and crashed into the wall of a house in Bordeaux, Randburg on Thursday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Nick Dollman said the taxi crashed into the wall and overturned at around 15:22 on Thursday afternoon.

Dollman said paramedics assessed two adult females and 22 children from the minibus as well as the driver of the bakkie.

"Bystanders alleged that the driver of the minibus was ejected and was stuck beneath the taxi when it overturned, so they turned it upright again to free her before Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene."

Dollman said the female driver of the minibus was believed to be pregnant and was in a very serious condition.

The second adult in the minibus is believed to be a carer for the children.

She was in a stable condition.

Paramedics transported 18 children in a stable condition to hospital.

Four children were fetched by their parents at the scene.

The driver of the bakkie remained on the scene.
