Johannesburg - More than 30 people, most of them children, have been injured in an accident involving two taxis on Thursday morning in Marion Hill, KwaZulu-Natal, paramedics said.

"We've got approximately over 30 patients of which 25 are school children aged between 4 and 6," said ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks.

"One taxi has overturned and one has gone down an embankment. All emergency personnel are on scene treating the injured."

The injured were also being transported to various hospitals in the area.

The accident took place on Acorn Road around 07:00.

The cause of the accident was unknown at this time, said Banks.
