Cape Town - A police constable has been arrested in Worcester for allegedly raping a woman in his official car, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said on Monday.

Spokesperspn Moses Dlamini said the 28-year-old policeman confronted the woman for alleged riotous behaviour on Saturday, while he was on duty.

He parked his police car behind a school, before allegedly threatening her with his service firearm and raping her in the vehicle. The woman opened a case and the constable was arrested the same day.

He was expected to appear in the Worcester Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Dlamini said a 46-year-old police captain would appear in the same court on Monday, also for allegedly raping a woman.

She alleged she was raped on 20 June in the captain's official car and that he threatened to shoot her and her son if she reported him.

The captain was arrested on Thursday.
