Johannesburg – Three men were arrested on Thursday for trying to defraud a liquor company of R27 000, Gauteng police said on Friday.

The men aged between 26 and 35 ordered expensive alcohol from DGB, a wine and spirit producer, in Midrand under the company name of Captain Liquor, spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmakgomo Semono said.

"When the company (DGB) owner phoned the number on the invoice, the owner from Captain Liquor didn't know anything about the order," he said.

"The men thought the liquor would be delivered to them."

The men were expected to appear in court on Friday or Monday.
