3 arrested for robbery in Johannesburg

Johannesburg - Three men were arrested after being found in possession of stolen goods at a flat in Hillbrow on Wednesday morning, Gauteng police said.

They had stolen items worth R700 000 from a couple at their home in Hyde Park, said Captain Pinky Tsinyane.

"The men forced entry into the house through the window at the back on Wednesday morning while the couple was still asleep," she said.

They threatened the couple with a knife, took valuables and fled.

Police were alerted and investigations led them to a flat were the goods were recovered.

Laptops, cellphones, sets of travel bags, watches and jewellery were among the items recovered.

The men, aged between 29 and 38, were expected to appear soon in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on charges of house robbery and possession of stolen property.

Investigations were continuing to establish whether they could be linked to other robberies in Gauteng, said Tsinyane.
